We have been busy in art class......
So busy that we have not.....
Had time to post.......
7th Grade Art
The students did complete their Early Christian Icon paintings. The paintings are hanging up in the middle school hallway. We will post pictures when they come back over to the high school.
8th Grade Art
8th Grade students have started the very fun unit of PRINTMAKING. Fun, but very messy!!!
So far, we have done string prints and this week we did Styro-prints using Styrofoam plates for our templates.
Here are some photos of them working in class and some photos of their templates and the finished prints too.
This is what the template for the string print looks like. We use cardboard as the block, then we sketch out a subject of our choice, then we glue string on top, and finally add paint and print the block.
Below are examples of the string prints. We get some extra texture from the cardboard, but I think it adds to the prints.
Here are the students working in class. This was a fun class to watch as they worked on these prints. Like I said, it is MESSY!!!
The students cut a square from a Styrofoam plate, then they drew a design with a pen making sure to press hard enough to leave an impression in the Styrofoam. Then they inked the block with paint and printed the block. We rotated the block so that it would create a symmetrical, radiating design.
Here are some of the Styrofoam blocks. I like they way they look too. Sometimes, I like them more than the prints.
