Autumn Upon Us

I love this time of year, but I think everyone does!
The art students have been excited about the coming season too.  There is just something special about fall to the visual artist.

My middle school classrooms are separated into boy/girl classes.  I love this and it works perfectly for middle school!  This year, I am trying to do different projects with each group so that at our end of year art show we will have a lot more variety to show off to parents and families.

Middle School Art Students have been very busy creating fantastic works of art!

7th Grade Student Art

We just completed our watercolor paintings inspired by the Japanese Artist: Katsushika Hokusai and his work:  The Great Wave

 

Here are the 7th graders pieces inspired by this great print.  We used watercolor paints and sharpie to achieve the "print look".

Finally, we have some sketchbook pages to share.

This is a mix of 7th and 8th grade sketchbook work.  I was really proud of them for all the effort and creativity.

In the Middle

This school year, I am trying to get the art students to use their individual sketchbooks more.  Here are some examples from this weeks selection.

The 8th Grade students are still working on their compositions and will be finished by the end of next week.  They are creating 2-D Still Life Designs.

The 7th Grade students completed their 2-D Design project.  They created drawings of cats and dogs filled with designs done in sharpie and color pencils.

Currently the 8th Grade Students are working on Pop Art Paintings.

7th Grade Girls just completed a mixed media flower assignment.  The boys completed Dragon drawings in pencil.
