2012-2013 Art Blog for Middle School Art

We are off to a new school year at HPCA!  The art students have been working on new projects and we have finally completed some work and are ready to share them with you.

8th Grade Art

Here are some photos of the 8th graders working on their current projects.  They are learning about the Elements of Art and The Principles of Design and how to use them in a composition.  We are working with black ink (sharpie).

Last week the 8th grade students worked on color pencil designs.  We learned about value and how to use value to add dimension to our work.
Here are some examples of their work.

7th Grade Art

The seventh grade students are learning art history while they learn to work with different art media.  Over the last couple of weeks, we learned about the art of Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, and next week will be studying the art of Ancient China.

Here are some examples of the 7th grade paintings inspired by the Art of Ancient Egypt.
The students used Tempera cakes for this project and seemed to love working with the paint.
