Drawing People

8th Grade Art
The 8th Grade students completed their drawings of people in historical attire this week.  I was really proud of their effort.  Everyone is always fearful when it comes to drawing people.  As I walked the room, I heard over and over again, "I can't draw people".  We talked about drawing what we see and not worrying about those lines as "lips" or "noses".  Just thinking of them as lines.  It helped.  I am very happy with the outcome and think they created some interesting drawings.
The students worked from engravings (copyright free) from clipartetc.
Here are some samples of their work!

Twenty Thirteen

8th Grade Art

8th Grade students are studying drawing.  This week we learned about different drawing techniques, shadow casting, shading techniques and how to create contrast in our drawings.

The first drawing project is done in pencil and the subject was birds.

EXAMPLES

7th Grade

7th Grade students created glue resist paintings.  They drew the butterflies in pencil then went over all their lines with Elmer's school glue.  We let them dry for one week, then we applied paint and then rinsed the paintings in the sink.
My perfectionists were all in a panic over this one!
I love the way they turned out.
